SUMMER CAMPS / CAMP PROGRAMS

The City of Miramar is already planning its recreation & athletic summer camp programs. This year the City is giving these camps new programming aimed at enriching the campers experience during the summer. We will be offering a variety of camps that best fits your child’s interest: Summer Enrichment Camp, Teens of Tomorrow “Champions” & “Creative Minds”, Sports & Fundamentals, and for the first time Track-N-Learn.  All camp programs will begin June 14, 2010* (*except for Track-N-Learn Camp) and will be offered on a weekly basis through August 20, 2010. At the time of registration, participants can select which week to register for. The camp hours are 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Register now as spaces are limited.  Registration begins April 5, 2010 for residents and April 19, 2010 for non-residents. Dedicated to children from Kindergarten thru 5th grade, this camp is designed to enrich camper’s awareness and knowledge thru guest speakers, various craft projects, educational components, and indoor/outdoor games. Campers will also enjoy weekly field trips and swim trips.

• Cost: $120 per week/residents. Registration fee: $25 includes camp T-shirt.
  Non-resident fee is an additional 20%. All activities are included.

Designed for children 12 thru 16 years of age. Campers will participate in both components of the Teen camp program. “Creative Minds” is designed to stimulate the minds and enhance campers reading and writing skills thru journal writing, skits, plays, and poetry. They will also enjoy doing variety of hands on arts & crafts projects. “Champions” is designed to build student athletes thru weekly tournament competition play in a variety of sports. They will enjoy lectures from guest speakers, and will have the opportunity to win trophies and receive certificates. Campers will attend weekly field trips and swim trips.

• Cost: $140 per week/residents. Registration fee: $25 includes camp T-shirt.

Calling all aspiring athletes from Kindergarten thru 5th grades. Sports & Fundamentals Camp is designed to teach the history and basic fundamentals of a variety of sports while developing individual skills and techniques thru various drills, games, tournaments, and in a classroom setting. Campers will also attend weekly field trips and swim trips.

• Cost: $125 per week/residents. Registration fee: $25 includes camp T-shirt.

A camp especially designed for children Kindergarten thru 5th grade who have an interest in being the track stars of tomorrow. Campers will learn the basic techniques of track events and its history thru mini weekly track meets and research in the computer lab. They will also attend weekly field trips and swim trips. *Please note: This camp will start on June 21, 2010 and run thru August 20, 2010.
