SUMMER CAMPS / CAMP PROGRAMS

Classes

Our goal is to “Give each camper the summer of their life!” A summer filled with adventure, learning, and friendship.  Summer camp can help your child develop character, learn valuable life skills, make new friends and discover new interests. Looking for a unique summer program with fun summer activities? Look no further than our summer camp programs!

Summer Elementary Day Camp

The summer fun begins right away in an elementary school aged camp designed to keep your child learning and engaged.  Each week jam-packed themes include field trips, special guests, crafts, games and enrichment activities that will grab your child’s attention and fill the days with excitement, friendship and fun.  After all, isn’t that what summer is for?

Kid’s Club Summer Camp locations are licensed by DCF (Department of Children and Families) and nationally accredited. They offer a welcoming, lively, safe, positive, and diverse environment where children gain confidence and build self-esteem while enjoying a fun-filled summer.

Our summer camp program exposes campers to a variety of challenging and exciting activities. The strength of our camp stems from our small group sizes, educational components, variety of activities, and an experienced year-round staff dedicated to enriching children’s lives. 

Meals:  Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack included.

Cost:  $100 per week resident* (Includes: meals, field trips and swimming trips)  

We accept Family Central.

Registration:  $10 per application resident* – Includes Camp T-shirt

*Non-Residents add an additional 20% to all fees

Program Hours:  7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Camp Dates:  June 9th through August 15th

Eligibility: Children must have completed kindergarten and turned age 5 by September 1, 2013.  Children must have attended Elementary school during the 2013/2014 school year.

Youth in Action Summer Camp

The Youth in Action Camp is administered by Harmony Development Center.  This Academically focused camp is designed to keep kids on track during the summer. Participants will surely be ready to get back to school effortlessly.  Fun recreational activities will be provided including dance, karate, swimming lessons and fun filled field trips

Program Hours:  Monday – Friday- 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Eligibility: Free to middle school age children.  Priority will be given to children who are currently enrolled in the Youth in Action afterschool program.

M.O.S.T. ~ Maximizing Out-Of-School-Time– CSC Grant Funded Program

The Children’s Service’s Council (CSC) M.O.S.T. summer program provides a safe and positive environment; for youth that enhances academic achievement, supports social and physical development and strengthens youth relationships with adults and peers within the context of their families, schools and communities, thereby strengthening youth protective factors and reducing risk factors.  The program incorporates best practices and uses research-based curricula.

Program components include: academic enrichment activities; physical fitness activities; nutrition education and healthy snacks; social skills building to promote positive self-esteem, pro-social peer associations, and good citizenship. An array of high quality activities exposes children to art and culture, music, social studies and science.  Community Service learning activities help children feel a stronger connection to their communities.

The following set of standards is demonstrated throughout the summer program. 

  • Qualified, enthusiastic, well-trained, and consistent staff.
  • Physical and psychological safety of all students.
  • Nutritious snacks and meals.
  • Strong family involvement.
  • Partnerships with students’ schools.
  • Acknowledgement and appreciation of diversity.

Meals:  Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack included.

Cost:  Sliding Fee Scale:  The program utilizes the CSC’s sliding fee scale.

Registration:  $12 for a single child or $18 for a family entering 2 or more children

Program Hours:  7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Program Dates:  June 9th through August 8th (this program operates the 1st 9 weeks of summer break, there is no camp the week prior to school beginning)

CSC-funded programs are intended to serve economically disadvantaged children residing in Broward County Title I public schools targeted communities. Children must reside in the Broward County School Board boundaries for Miramar elementary schools.


Tween-2-Teen Camp

Campers 13-16 years old will be on the go when they participate in this specialty camp designed with tweens to teen in mind.  Each camp day includes an educational, fun field trip.  Campers will meet on Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursdays only.  Campers must bring a bathing suit, towel, change of clothes, water bottle, and money for either lunch or snack, unless otherwise advised.
Meals:  Children must bring a packed lunch and snack every day unless notified otherwise.

Cost:  $100 per week residents*

Registration:  $25 per application* - Includes camp T-shirt *Non-Residents add an additional 20% to all fees listed

Program Dates:  June 9th through August 15th

Eligibility:  Ages 13 to 16

Sports & Fundamentals Camp

Calling all aspiring athletes 6-12 years of age!

Sports & Fundamentals Camp is designed to introduce campers to a variety of sports to help develop individual skills and techniques.

A different sport will be featured each week where campers will learn the history and basic fundamentals of the sport through drills, games, and tournament play.  Guest speakers and education will also be a component of this exciting camp.

Campers will also have the option to attend weekly field trips and swim trips.

 Meals: Children must bring a packed lunch and snack.

Cost:  $85 per week residents* (does not include field trips)

Field trips:  $15 per week* (Optional)

Swim Trips:  $5 per week* (Optional)

Registration: $25 per application* - Includes camp T-shirt

Miramar Cultural Center | Arts Park – Little Broadway

Presented by the Miramar Cultural Center|ArtsPark, Little Broadway camp embraces the visual and performing arts, and culminates with a theater performance.  Sessions offered include – singing, acting, dancing (choreography/technique), musical theater, visual art and musical instruments.  Additional camp highlights include special guest artists, lunch ‘n learn with guest speakers and field trips. 

Meals:  Vizcaya Park (June 16 to July 18) - Campers must bring a packed lunch /snack; Cultural Center (July 21 to August 7 - A hot lunch is available for campers $3.00 per day / snacks for sale.

Cost:  Miramar resident - $650 (Residents must show proof of residency to receive discount); Non-residents - $780; Sibling Discount – 10%

Registration:  Non-refundable registration fee of $45 (check or money order only - payable to the City of Miramar). 

Location:  Please note, the first five weeks of camp (June 16 - July 18) will be held at Vizcaya Park, 14200 SW 55th Street, Miramar, 33027 (Located at the end of Honeyhill Road) and the final three weeks (July 21 - August 7) will be held at the Miramar Cultural Center, 2400 Civic Center Place, Miramar, 33025.

Hours:  9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Before Care provided from 7:30 am / After Care provided until 6:00 pm. There is no supervision of children outside of these hours

Dates:  June 16 - August 7, 2013 (No camp on July 4)

Eligibility: ages 7 – 13 years / children will be grouped based on their age

Attendance: Due to the format of this program and the expectations of the culminating performance; campers must attend all sessions - illness excluded.

Jump Start To Kindergarten

The City of Miramar Early Childhood Program presents “Jump Start to Kindergarten”; this is a fun and educational program created to assist children in the transition from pre-school to kindergarten and is designed to keep children learning and engaged over the summer.

The camp is staffed by year- round teachers; who will help the children to continue learning and growing and provide support to prepare them to enter Kindergarten.

Jump Start to Kindergarten camp locations are licensed by DCF and are Nationally accredited. They offer a welcoming, lively, safe, positive, and diverse environment where your child will gain confidence and build self-esteem while enjoying a fun-filled summer.

Meals:  FREE hot nutritional breakfast and lunch

Cost:  FREE Registration $ 60 per week for Miramar resident*

*Non-Residents add an additional 20% to all fees

Aquatics Camp

This Aquatic Swim camp is a great opportunity for your children to take swim classes and to learn water safety education. Our qualified and experienced water safety instructors will teach your children the essentials to stay safe when they are in or near the water. Each day your children will participate in swimming lessons as well as various age appropriate organized aquatic and water safety activities.  Various indoor games, movies and activities, including arts and crafts will be incorporated the daily curriculum to increase your child’s personal and physical development. Field trips are scheduled for Tuesdays.

Space is limited and enrollment deadline is one week prior to each session.

Meals:  Children must bring a packed lunch and water bottle with their name on it. Each Friday lunch will be provided.

Cost:  $115 per week resident* /field trip included /per day: $ 40.00

Registration:  $25.00 (One time registration Fee)*

GCE Model Development L.L.C. Fashion Camp

Campers will learn the skills needed for models that include:  how to walk that famous “Catwalk”, auditioning & reading commercials for casting directors, fashion and lifestyle etiquette, how to build self-esteem, and gain confidence.

Meals:  bring a packed lunch and snack (refrigeration is not available)

Cost:  $200.00 per week resident* / Includes photo shoot /Sibling discount 10%   

Registration:   $45.00 non-refundable

I Know Science

Campers will participate in week-long hands on fun and exciting science activities that will educate, enrich and build self-esteem through science exploration and discovery.  Campers will enjoy doing incredible experiments that will WOW their imaginations!  Activities will also include outdoor games and much more.

Meals: bring a packed lunch and snack (refrigeration is not available)

Cost:  $175per week resident* /per day: $ 30.00 /Sibling, Miramar Employees, Military Personnel & Registration before May 30th receive a 10% discount / $10 per day after care

Registration:  $45.00 non-refundable*

Program Hours:  Monday – Friday- 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  / after care 4 p.m.-6p.m.

Session Dates:  June 23th - June27th /- July 21st - July 25th / July 28th - August 1st

Dance Emotions

Dance Emotion is a well-rounded dance camp that explores all areas of dance.  Camp favorites include Jazz, Hip-Hop, cheerleading, arts &crafts, etiquette and more.

Meals:  bring a packed lunch and snack (refrigeration is not available)

Cost:  $125 per week resident*/ sibling discount 10% / before care 7:30 am -9 a.m. and aftercare 4-6 p.m. $25 per week 

Registration:  no registration fee
