Award Winning Child Care Program

The City of Miramar contributes to our community by providing secure, supervised, learning and play through the Early Childhood Program. The philosophy of the Early Childhood Program is based on the belief that a childcare, preschool, after-school or camp program should provide physical, social, emotional and intellectual activities which enable a child to have a positive learning experience. Teachers are carefully selected and screened to assure a quality experience for each child. Our programs offer age appropriate activities and an anti-bias curriculum.

The City of Miramar’s Early Childhood Programs are Nationally Accredited by Accredited Professional Preschool Learning Environment (APPLE). APPLE Accreditation recognizes our commitment to provide quality learning programs.

DCFDepartment of Children & Families (DCF) approved Gold Seal Quality Care Programs - The City of Miramar’s Early Childhood Programs are Department of Children & Families (DCF) approved Gold Seal Quality Care Programs. A Gold Seal Approval emphasizes our programs exceed National Standards. It is a level of care that exceeds the minimum licensing standards by meeting the higher standards set by the accrediting agency.

GOLD SEAL 2007The City of Miramar’s Early Childhood Programs have received the Broward County Gold Seal of Excellence annually since 1996. Broward County recognizes Early Childhood Programs annually that are committed and dedicated to excellence.

All programs offered by the Early Childhood Division are licensed and teachers are certified with a Child Development Association Credential or a Florida Child Care Professional Credential. Developmentally appropriate activities are taught in a safe and positive atmosphere. Children participate in motivational programs that focus on building self-esteem and a sense of being important. PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS

Early Childhood Program
7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

  • Preschool Registration Fee: $100 per school year
  • 3 to 12 months infants: $200 per week
  • 12 months to 18 months: $185 per week
  • 18 months to 24 months: $175 per week
  • 2-year old: $155 per week
  • 3-year old: $145 per week
  • 4-year old / Pre K: $100 per week with VPK ($160 without VPK)

VPK: Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten Program

  • Preschool Registration Fee: $100 per school year for extended care students
  • VPK Program Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Full Time Extended Care: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ; $100 per week
  • AM Extended Care: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.; $40 per week
  • PM Extended Care: 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.; $40 per week

Part-Time Preschool
Please speak with the center supervisor in regards to part time preschool care.  Times and availability vary by center.

    • Preschool Registration Fee: $100 per school year will apply

Preschool Graduation: Pre-K students are assessed a $100 Graduation Fee.

Special Activity Programs are offered to children registered in our preschool programs. Classes differ by location, availability is limited & age restrictions do apply.

ACE Card

A.C.E.S. After-school Program
Be an ACE and join us... Daily activities include Arts & Crafts, Games, Outdoor Play, Homework Time & Specials. Program follows the Broward County School Calendar. Program Hours are 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., includes Early Release Days 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. & a Daily Snack. Cost: $150 per month / $50 Registration Fee

*The Vicki Coceano Childcare location offers after school transportation from the Sea Castle Elementary School for an additional $10 per month.

Spring & Winter Camp Programs
When school is out fun is in at our camp programs! Activities include Field Trips, Special Guests, Parties, Swimming, Indoor/Outdoor Games, Dress Up Days & Arts & Crafts. Program Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Cost: Spring & Winter Camp $140 per camp / $10 Registration Fee
Teacher Planning Day Camp
These fun filled days include a Field Trip, Lunch, Snack & Special Activities. Program Hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Cost: $25 per day / $10 Registration Fee

Summer Camp
Designed for children K-5th grade enjoy indoor & outdoor games and activities. They will attend a weekly field trip and swim trip. Your summer vacation will be filled with fun & exciting activities including: Weekly Field Trips, Special Guests, Parties, Weekly Swimming lessons, Indoor / Outdoor Games, Dress up Days & Arts & Crafts. Our curriculum is designed to offer a variety of educational opportunities throughout the summer. Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack is included in the program!

MISSION STATEMENT
The City of Miramar Early Childhood Program provides high quality child care for children. The vision of community which is provided through this program can color a child’s ideas and expectations about equity, cooperation and citizenship.

  • Each child is provided the physical, social, emotional and intellectual activities which enable them positive experiences.
  • Importance is placed on cooperative play.
  • Emergent literacy is the core emphasis of the anti-biased curriculum.
  • Developmentally appropriate activities and learning materials are taught by Child Development Associate Credentialed Teachers in a safe and secure environment.

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY
The Early Childhood Program philosophy is based on the belief that a child care, preschool, after school or camp program; should provide the physical, social, emotional and intellectual activities which enable each child a positive learning experience.

The Early Childhood Program contributes to our community by providing secure and supervised learning and play. The overall program is designed to grow with each child’s needs. Age appropriate activities and an anti-bias curriculum shall be followed to assure quality learning experiences. Staff professionalism is a priority. Loyalty to the children, families and our City shall be conveyed at all times.

 

CURRICULUM
The Miramar Early Childhood Program curriculum is a researched based curricula that promotes our programs mission and philosophy.

Emergent literacy is the core emphasis of our anti-biased curriculum. Our age appropriate activities and anti-bias curriculum is followed to assure quality learning experiences.

The curriculum guidelines are established by the Florida School Readiness Performance Standards. Curriculum is annually updated to meet the Performance Standards.

ENROLLMENT POLICIES
Children must be registered before attending any of our programs. The following must be up-to-date and on file:

  • #1 Enrollment Card
  • Form 3040 Physical Examination & Form 680 up-to-date Immunizations.
  • Parents signature on Child Care Facility Brochure, Disciplinary Statement, Nutrition Agreement and all Consent Forms.

FEES
Preschool Tuition is due weekly each Monday prior to your child attending. Registration fees are due upon receipt of registration packet. Tuition, deposits and registration fees are non-refundable.

VACATIONS
Students are allotted a 2-week vacation each school year beginning in September. Students must have been enrolled in the program for a minimum of 12 weeks and must put a request in writing prior to vacation for fees to be credited.

Our daily operating hours are 7 am to 6 pm,
Monday through Friday

Miramar Early Childhood Program Registration Applications & Parent Handbooks

Applications may be printed from our web site, signed and brought to the child care center. They are also available at the child care centers. Parent handbooks may be printed from our web site or they are available at the child care centers. All forms for each application must be printed and signed by the child’s parent, a notary is available at each location. Please call ahead for a registration appointment. The legal parent(s)/custodian of the child must be present to register the child in the program.

Daily Menu

The City of Miramar Early Childhood Program is a participant in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child Care Food Program which assists centers in serving nutritious meals each day to all enrolled children.

All meals served meet the meal pattern requirements established by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Health. Children will receive breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. There is no additional fee for the meals served to your child.

Please know that The United States Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Health require that each child have a completed Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application on file. All Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications will be placed in our files and treated as confidential information.

The posted menus are rotated by week. Please check with your child's center to note which week's menu is being served.

Child Care Licensing & Enforcement - The Child Care Licensing and Enforcement (CCLE) Section of the Children’s Services Administration Division of the Human Services Department is responsible for the implementation of the state-mandated licensing of all child care facilities in Broward County. CCLE monitors child care providers for compliance with health and safety standards.

Family Central -is a not-for-profit agency that is the central child care agency for Broward County. They provide the full complement of child care resource and referral services, eligibility and enrollment services for child care subsidies, individual and family therapy, parent training, resource libraries and developmental screening for young children.

Immunizations Program - “We want to make sure Broward County’s children stay healthy” Infant, Pre-School and School Enrollment immunization are offered to the general public without regard to income. Information for appointments may be obtained by calling or visiting the nearest public health center. Immunizations are offered throughout the community for locations, dates, and times check the web site’s service location..

Florida KidCare - Through Florida KidCare, the state of Florida offers health insurance for children from birth through age 18, even if one or both parents are working. When you apply for the insurance, Florida KidCare will check what you may qualify for based on age and family income. Apply on line now, enrollment is open all year.
