The City of Miramar contributes to our community by providing secure, supervised, learning and play through the Early Childhood Program. The philosophy of the Early Childhood Program is based on the belief that a childcare, preschool, after-school or camp program should provide physical, social, emotional and intellectual activities which enable a child to have a positive learning experience. Teachers are carefully selected and screened to assure a quality experience for each child.
All programs offered by the Early Childhood Division are licensed and teachers are certified with a Child Development Association Credential or a Florida Child Care Professional Credential. Developmentally appropriate activities are taught in a safe and positive atmosphere.

The City of Miramar’s Early Childhood Programs have received the Broward County Gold Seal Quality of Care annually since the Florida Legislature established the Gold Seal Quality of Care program in 1996. Broward County recognizes early childhood programs annually that are committed and dedicated to excellence. Award recipients are recognized for maintaining quality care accreditation and higher education standards for staff. Our program provides a level of care that exceeds the minimum licensing standards.

All forms for the application must be completed and signed. Please refer to the preschool parent handbook regarding program policies and procedures. The VPK parent handbook includes additional policies and procedures that pertain exclusively to the VPK program.

Friendship, Enrichment & Fun! Daily activities include homework time, arts & crafts, games, outdoor play & specials. Program follows the Broward County School calendar. Program hours are 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., includes Early Release Days 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Cost: $150 per month
Our monthly calendar provides day to day information about the curriculum and activities that are happening throughout the month.
Spring & Winter Camp Programs
When school is out fun is in at our camp programs! Activities include field trips, special guests, parties, swimming, indoor/outdoor games, dress up days & arts & crafts. Cost: Spring & Winter Camp $140 per camp
Camp Days / Teacher Planning Days
These fun filled days include a variety of special activities. Cost: $25 per day
MOST – Afterschool and Summer Camp Program
The Children Service Council, MOST program incorporates best practices and offers a safe, positive environment for elementary school age children. The program enhances academic achievement and supports social and physical development.
The program reinforces the learning experiences that children receive at school. An academic environment is provided that is conducive for learning with certified teachers and qualified counselors. The children are taught social skills, math, reading enrichment, science skills, diversity and nutrition. The program includes daily academic, fitness and cultural arts components, homework assistance, educational and recreational field trips.
The MOST program is a grant funded program, sponsored by Children’s Services Council, funded programs are intended to serve economically disadvantaged children residing in Broward County Title I public schools targeted communities. Children must reside and/or attend one of the following Broward County Schools; Miramar Elementary, Fairway Elementary, A.C. Perry Elementary or Sunshine Elementary schools.
During the afterschool program children are served a nutritious snack and supper. During full time days children are served a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack.

What are the program hours?
Afterschool Program hours are 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily and 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on early release days.
Camp day hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Are there fees for the program?
Fees for the MOST Program are calculated using the Children’s Services Council’s sliding fee scale. Fees are determined using financial information provided by the parent(s).
Registration fees are $30 per family for afterschool and $ $12.00 for a single child or $18.00 per family.
What information must a parent provide?
The following documentation must be submitted with application: all address must match with application.
- Income Tax Return (1040)
- Driver’s License with current address
- Most recent electric bill, water bill or credit card bill
- For Afterschool only - Proof of child's enrollment in an eligible school: A.C. Perry Elementary, Fairway Elementary, Miramar Elementary, and Sunshine Elementary. Proof can be a current report card or letter from school.
What are the age limits for the program?
Children must be enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade
Are there residential restrictions for applicants?
For the afterschool program: Applicants must attend one of the following Miramar Broward County Schools: Fairway, Miramar, A.C. Perry or Sunshine Elementary schools.
For the summer program: Children must reside in the Broward County School Board boundaries for Miramar, Fairway, A.C. Perry or Sunshine elementary schools.
How do I register?
Applications and parent handbooks may be printed from our webs site or they are available at the child care centers. All forms for each application must be signed by the child’s parent. The legal parent(s)/custodian of the child must register at the child care center.
What are your enrollment policies?
Children must be enrolled in our programs prior to attending their first day.
Where can I get my application notarized?
A notary is available at each child care center.
Do you have any assistance available?
We accept school readiness funding. Approved funding is determined through Family Central of Broward County and Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade. Fairway Child Care Center has a grant funded program sponsored by the Children’s Services Council for elementary age students for afterschool and summer camp.
What curriculum do you use?
Miramar Early Childhood Programs use Creative Curriculum.
Creative Curriculum is forward-thinking, comprehensive, research-based and research-proven curriculum. Our educators use Creative Curriculum to offer developmentally appropriate lessons that support active learning and promote children’s progress in all developmental areas. Teachers are able to honor their creativity while respecting their critical role in making learning exciting and relevant for every child. The curriculum incorporates the latest research and best practices and takes into account the needs of every type of learner. We believe that the best and most powerful way to improve a child outcome is through effective teaching.
When are child care fees due?
Preschool fees are due weekly each Monday prior to your child attending.
Registration fees are due upon the receipt of the registration.
Afterschool fees are due every 4 weeks of care, in accordance with our financial agreement.
Camp fees are due upon registration.
What is your vacation policy?
Our vacation policy applies to preschool students only. Students are allotted a 2-week vacation each school year beginning in September. Students must have been enrolled in the program for a minimum of 12 weeks and must put a request in writing prior to vacation for fees to be credited.
What are your hours of operation?
Our child care centers are operational from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
What days are you closed for holidays?
Labor Day; Veteran’s Day; Thanksgiving Day; Day After Thanksgiving; Christmas Eve; Christmas Day; New Year’s Eve; New Year’s Day; Martin Luther King Day; President’s Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day
Holidays that fall on a Saturday are observed on the prior Friday. Holidays that fall on a Sunday are observed on the following Monday.
The City of Miramar Early Childhood Program is a participant in the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Child Care Food Program which assists centers in serving nutritious meals each day to all enrolled children.
All meals served meet the meal pattern requirements established by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Health. Children will receive breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. There is no additional fee for the meals served to your child.
Please know that The United States Department of Agriculture and the Florida Department of Health require that each child have a completed Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application on file. All Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications will be placed in our files and treated as confidential information.
The posted menus are rotated by week. Please check with your child's center to note which week's menu is being served.
Child Care Licensing & Enforcement - The Child Care Licensing and Enforcement (CCLE) Section of the Children’s Services Administration Division of the Human Services Department is responsible for the implementation of the state-mandated licensing of all child care facilities in Broward County. Immunizations Program - “We want to make sure Broward County’s children stay healthy” Infant, Pre-School and School Enrollment immunization are offered to the general public without regard to income. Information for appointments may be obtained by calling or visiting the nearest public health center. Florida KidCare - Through Florida KidCare, the state of Florida offers health insurance for children from birth through age 18, even if one or both parents are working. When you apply for the insurance, Florida KidCare will check what you may qualify for based on age and family income. Apply on line now, enrollment is open all year.
