| Working Hours |
| Most full time employees work 40 hours per week. However, certain personnel are assigned shift work as determined by the Department Director and City Manager. For example, Firefighter/Paramedics normally work a 24 hour shift and Police Officers work 10 hours per shift. |
| Vacation |
| Employees earn up to ten days vacation during their first year. Accrual begins immediately and may be taken after three consecutive months of employment. |
| Sick Leave |
| Sick leave is accrued at the rate of one day per month. As with vacations, accrual begins from the first month of employment, but can not be used until after the third month of employment. An employee may elect to use accrued sick time for illness in his/her immediate family upon approval of the department head. |
| Legal Services |
| Employees may choose to join a legal service plan for personal and business-related matters. |
| Credit Union |
| All City employees may participate in a Credit Union of their choice. In addition to savings and checking accounts, the Credit Union offers different types of loans, investment choices and recreational opportunities. |
| Awards |
| The objective of this program is to provide recognition to City employees who have displayed outstanding City service. |
| Direct Deposit |
| Employees may have their bi-weekly paycheck deposited to the financial institution of their choice. |
Health Benefits
| Health Insurance |
| The City provides employees with health insurance benefits. The employee may elect to cover a spouse and/or dependent children by paying the applicable premium for the dependent(s). |
| Health Plan |

| Dental Insurance |
| Premiums for eligible employees are paid by the City. Premiums for any covered dependent are paid by the employee with a contribution by the City. |

| Discounts on routine eye exams, eyeglasses and contact lens are available. |
| Cancer Plan / Heart & Stroke Plan |
| These elective plans provide direct cash payments regardless of any other coverage you may have, including Medicare. It is designed to help fill in any gaps in a medical plan. |
| Section 125 Plan for Health and Dental Premium |
| Section 125 of the Internal Revenue code allows you to have your dependent coverage premiums deducted before payroll taxes are withheld resulting in tax savings to you. |
| Life Insurance / Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance |
| The City provides each employee term life insurance and accidental death insurance. For non-smokers, it provides an additional $20,000 of additional coverage paid by the City. |
| Supplemental Life Insurance / Supplemental AD&D Insurance |
| Employees may purchase supplemental term life insurance on an individual-choice basis with premiums based on age. |
| Dependent Life Insurance |
| Employees who select supplemental coverage for themselves may also purchase coverage for their spouse and dependent children. |
| Long Term Disability |
| The City provides Long Term Disability insurance to eligible employees. The plan is designed to cover a disability sustained on or off the job. |
| Employee Assistance Program |
| The City retains an outside provider for Employee Assistance Services to help employees and their dependents when needed with free, confidential and professional counseling to help resolve personal or family problems. |
| Wellness Program / City Gym |
| The City has a gym facility equipped with a wide variety of exercise machines in the Sunset Lakes Community Center. The gym facility is free to City employees. |

| City Retirement / Pension Plans |
| The City has pension plans for general employees, police and firefighters. Each plan is contributory with both the employee and the City contributing to the program. The City also offers a management pension plan. |

| The City makes available a deferred compensation plan that the employee may voluntarily contribute to on a tax-deferred basis. |

| Tuition Reimbursement |
| The Tuition Assistance Program reimburses eligible employees for successful completion of approved courses leading to Associate, Bachelors, Graduate and Doctorate degrees. |

| The City offers continuing classes for professional development. Topics include supervisory and management skills and as well as workshops and seminars on a wide variety of topics, both on a professional and personal level. |
