Veteran's preference will be granted to Florida residents in accordance with Florida law to eligible veterans and spouses of veterans. |Depending on the position, the examination process may consist of one or any combination of the following: written exam, performance exam, education and experience evaluation, oral exam and/or other job related examinations. A passing grade is required on every examination. If a written and/ or performance test is required, it will be conducted by the Human Resources Department.|

|Applicants that pass will be scheduled for any additional testing or will be notified in writing of final score and position on the Civil Service Register. Applicants that fail will be notified in writing.|

|When a vacancy occurs, the Department Director with the vacancy must make a selection from candidates on a register. Employment is subject to the selected candidate passing a background verification and medical examination which includes a drug screening for all candidates working in safety sensitive positions.|
