This department handles the traffic engineering planning for present and future roads within the City; new development project infrastructure needs and requirements; inspections of new developments to ensure compliance with City standards; and Municipal Capital Improvement Projects. Engineering's Development and Construction Management Divisions are located at 2200 Civic Center Place, Second Floor.
CIVIL ENGINEERING (DEVELOPMENT)
New development projects are reviewed by civil engineers and traffic engineers to ensure conformance with minimum design standards and the adequacy of utility and roadway infrastructure that is necessary to meet the development’s capacity requirements.
INSPECTIONS
The City is experiencing tremendous growth which must be monitored to ensure the City’s interest is protected by inspecting new installations for compliance with adopted building codes and standards. The inspection section conducted over 3,000 compliance infrastructure inspections last year.
TRAFFIC ENGINEERING
Provides information and requests to the Broward County Traffic Engineering Division and Florida’s Department of Transportation in the planning, installation, operation and maintenance of all traffic control devices within the City.
Specific duties include:
- Reviews all site development and roadway improvement plans
- Reviews and approves Maintenance and Protection of Traffic Plans for proposed roadway and or utility construction
- Responds to traffic operation and safety concerns
- Coordinates with the City of Miramar Police and Fire Departments
