HOUSING ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Information to assist those facing foreclosure
Foreclosure Prevention Program
This program is intended to help Miramar families who are facing challenges with their mortgages by providing financial assistance and education on foreclosure prevention. The city has recruited speakers from the financial industry to speak to neighborhoods and homeowners associations about foreclosure prevention and a City flyer has been sent to residents advising them to make alternative arrangements with lenders whenever possible.

Asset Based Neighborhood Development Program

This program is designed to give residents the opportunity to create and enhance the capacity of their neighborhood. How is this done? By working directly with the residents, we assist with identifying shared neighborhood goals, assets, problems and priorities, and then develop an action plan to address the important issues. In this way, a neighborhood builds its own capacity as an organized association that is capable of realizing positive change now and in the future. Equally important is the collaborative relationships formed between the residents, public agencies, local non-profit groups, businesses and the faith community. We are pleased that several neighborhoods (Plantation, Miramar Isles Watch, Miramar Park Group, Miramar Tropical Homes) have participated in this program.
