The Miramar City Clerk's office is an acceptance agency for the United States Department of Passport Services.
A passport is an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue or verify United States passports.
IN THE NEWS: CNN: The Homeland Security Department will require virtually all air travelers entering the United States after January 23 to show passports -- even U.S. citizens.
Normal processing hours are: Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Friday - Closed
Passports are processed by appointment only.
Processing takes approximately 20 minutes. All passport applicants must be present including children of all ages.

PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP
- Originals must be sent with Application
- EXPIRED U.S. PASSPORT;
(children under 16 must submit birth certificate with expired passport)
NOTE: If both parents are listed on the birth certificate, then both must appear at the appointment to sign or the non-applying parent must sign a parental consent form & have it notarized. ;
OR
- ORIGINAL OR CERTIFIED COPY OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE
OR
- ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE OF NATURALIZATION;
(If a child is receiving citizenship through the parents Naturalization, you must also submit the child’s Resident Alien Card, Birth Certificate (certified translation if not in English), and Passport.

PASSPORT FEESEffective February 1, 2008, the U.S. Dept. of State have implemented new fees & new requirements for minors. Also, U.S. Passport Cards are being introduced which allow international travel by land or sea between the United States, Canada, Mexico the Caribbean and Bermuda. ** Two-parent consent change: UNDER AGE 16 will now require both parents’ or legal guardians’ consent |
