Ten (10) Broward County Public Schools high schools and one charter high school were recognized among Newsweek magazine’s top high schools in the nation in 2009.

The rankings are derived by adding up the number of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or Cambridge tests taken by students at a school divided by the number of seniors graduating the same year. This year’s list is based on data from the 2007/08 school year.

All of the schools on the list are included in the top six percent of public schools, based on this specific calculation. Overall, 1,482 public high schools nationwide, including 133 in the state of Florida, were recognized.
