HOLIDAY LIGHTINGS AT TOWN CENTER AND SHIRLEY BRANCA PARK

Click HereThe City of Miramar will kick off the Holiday Season with lighting ceremonies scheduled on Friday, December 5th and Saturday, December 6th, 2014. 

Come join us on Friday, December 5th at Miramar Town Center for the Holiday Lighting Ceremony from 6-7pm.   Enjoy performances by the New Renaissance Middle School Band and Christway Baptist Adult and Children’s Choirs followed by the lighting ceremony.   Miramar Town Center is located at 2300 Civic Center Place, Miramar, FL 33025.

It doesn’t end here!

The festivities continue on Saturday, December 6th at Shirley Branca Park, 6900 Miramar Parkway, in Historical Miramar, from 6-9pm.  This fun FREE celebration will include a Holiday Show, bounce houses, midway carnival games, food & novelty vendors, holiday characters and a special guest from the North Pole.  The evening will end with the lighting of the tree.    Don’t forget your cameras!

The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., at Veteran’s Park, located at the intersection of SW 64th Avenue and SW 33rd Street.

As part of the City of Miramar’s efforts to raise funds for Cancer Research and the Relay for Life we will be holding the 2014 Spring Flea Market at Shirley Branca park, 6900 Miramar Parkway, on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Mark your calendars with the date and remember to join us.  You never know what great bargains you may find.  There will be new, used, & vintage bric-a-brac, furniture, clothing, jewelry, arts & crafts, music, books and many more treasures.

As the saying goes “one man’s junk is another man’s treasure”.

We are also looking for vendors.  Space rental is $20 for Miramar Residents, $25 for non-residents and $40 for businesses.  Space is limited to reserve early.

Registration deadline is April 21, 2014.

FREE BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATORY EVENT AT MIRAMAR CULTURAL CENTER ARTSPARK

Celebrity speakers include actress JoMarie Peyton, WPLG news anchor Calvin Hughes and WTVJ news anchor Jawan Trader

MIRAMAR – The City of Miramar will host a free daylong Black History Month Celebratory Event on Saturday, February 8 starting at 1:00 pm at Miramar Cultural Center I Arts Park.  The entire family will be treated to everything from arts and crafts workshops and soul food specialties to guest speakers and performances, all of which pay tribute to African American history and culture.

Along with all of the spectacular events, the Martin Luther King, Jr. “I have a Dream Wall” will welcome guests to leave messages, quotes, drawings, poems, stories and more throughout the day.  Vendors also will serve a mouth-watering assortment of traditional soul foods in the courtyard.

“Black History Month recognizes a wealth of influences, historical events and the men and women who have helped to shape American culture,” said Miramar Vice-Mayor Alexandra P. Davis, who initiated the day-long event.  “We have created an exciting, comprehensive program of concurrent workshops and hands-on crafts, as well as food and entertainment through which everyone can celebrate not only these unique African American contributions but the similarities we all share.”

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY CELEBRATION

The City of Miramar and Commissioner Yvette Colbourne will host the Martin Luther King Birthday Celebration on Monday, January 20 from noon to 4:00 pm at Lakeshore Park located at 8501 South Sherman Circle.

The event will have food, music, dancing, and entertainment including performances by the Universal Circus, inflatable ride, games, contests and prizes.

Commissioner Colbourne stated that, "Events like this help educate our youth, preserve our past and advance Dr. King's message of peace and diversity to the next generation."

Vice Mayor Davis in partnership with State Senator Oscar Braynon II and the Sunday Morning Kickers of Miramar will be sponsoring 'Family Fun Day' at the Ansin Sports Complex located at 10801 Miramar Boulevard on Saturday, January 18 from noon to 7:00 pm.

The event will have free food, music, games (track & field), soccer, sack races, a dance competition, face painting, a bounce house and much more!

Vice Mayor Davis stated that, "State Senator Braynon and I have faith in the future of government to bring more to our community. This event shows how local and state levels of government can work together to improve the quality of life for all."

HALLOWEEN NIGHT AT ANSIN SPORTS COMPLEX

Thursday, October 31, 6:00 PM-9 PM-Ansin Sports Complex - 10801 Miramar Boulevard - NEW LOCATION... This Year

MIRAMAR - Miramar's Ansin Sports Complex is getting ready for the fall season by starting with a howling good time on October 31st from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. when our City Commission hosts Halloween at Ansin Sports Complex, 10801 Miramar Boulevard.

As in the past, we are offering a safe alternative for "Trick or Treat ers" of all ages. To keep in the spirit of the holiday, we urge children and their parents to come dressed in costume. Ansin Sports Complex will be a sea of costumes that evening, so don't forget your camera - photo oops will be all around you. Local businesses, as well as our Commissioners and City Departments, will be participating in this safe "Trick or Treat" event by giving out treats.

Entertainment for children will include music, games, and rides. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Due to limited parking, overflow parking will be available at the Miramar Town Center, 2300 Civic Center Place. The City will provide shuttle bus service from Town Center Place to the Ansin Sports Complex for the event.
