The City of Miramar Community Services Department invites you and your family to our Winter Movie Night. Come out Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 7:00 pm, and watch “Kung Fu Panda” under the stars at Perry Park, SW 68 Avenue and SW 34 Street. Don’t forget your blankets or chairs. The Community Services Department is hosting “Christmas Is Going To The Dogs” for children (accompanied by an adult) on Saturday, December 13, 2008, 9:00 a.m., at the new Miramar Cultural Arts Center, 2400 Civic Center Place. This holiday event will feature a unique and exciting children’s show “Christmas Has Gone To The Dogs”, a hearty hot breakfast served buffet style, edible crafts, prizes, costumed characters, a special visit with Santa, along with goodie bags for every child.  Bring your cameras.

Tickets go on sale November 3 at $8.00 per person. Tickets can be purchased Monday-Friday, at the Miramar Youth Enrichment Center, 7000 Miramar Parkway from 1:30 pm – 9:00 pm; Miramar Town Center, 2300 Civic Center Place from 8:30 pm-4:30 pm; or the Sunset Lakes Community Center, 2801 SW 186 Avenue,  from 9 am – 9 pm.  Space is limited and it is recommended that you purchase your tickets quickly to this exciting holiday event. The City of Miramar Community Services Department, All Service Refuse and The Sun Sentinel invite all families to join us as we celebrate the holidays with music and lights. The festivities take place at the Miramar Town Center and the new Cultural Center, 2300 Civic Center Place, on Saturday, December 6th. The event begins at 4:00 pm with the ribbon cutting ceremony of the new Cultural Center/ArtsPark. Local entertainers and school will perform on stage to put you in the holiday mood. Costumed characters, rides and snow will delight the children. Special North Pole visitors will stop by to visit with your children and listen to their holiday wishes. Plan on attending CaribeFest 2008 where the sounds and tastes of the Caribbean islands come to life in Miramar. Non-stop entertainment is on the menu where everything from kompa and salsa to reggae and calypso will be featured. Bands will be playing island music for the crowds. Children will enjoy the rides. The City of Miramar Community Services Department invites families to come dressed in their costumes to Halloween Night At The Town Center.  The fun takes place at the Miramar Town Center, 2300 Civic Center Place, on Friday, October 31 from 6-9 pm. Children can safely trick or treat around the Town Center Plaza visiting our local business booths for free candy, or play on the inflatables.  Stage acts will entertain the children with music, games, creepy crawlies and a spooktacular magic show.  Visit our new Cultural Arts Center/ArtsPark.  For more information call 954-883-5010. HALLOWEEN MASQUERADE DANCE

The City of Miramar Community Services Department is hosting a Halloween Masquerade Dance for students in grades 6-8 on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at the Miramar Civic Center, 6920 SW 35 Street.  The ghoulish fun begins at 7:00 p.m.  Come in costume. Presale tickets cost $3 each and go on sale September 26.  Tickets can be purchased Mondays-Fridays at the Miramar Youth Enrichment Center from 1:30-9 pm; Miramar Town Center from 8:30-4:30 pm; and Sunset Lakes Community Center from 9 am – 9 pm.  Tickets at the door will cost $5 and are limited to the first 25 students in line with their student ID cards.  Space is limited so buy your tickets early.  For more information, call (954) 883-5010.
FALL MOVIE / CLASSIC CARS SHOW NIGHT

The City of Miramar Community Services Department invites you to join us at our "Fall Movie & Classic Car Show Night” on Saturday, October 11, from 6-9:30 pm at the beautiful Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway. The proceeds from this event will benefit the South Broward Elks Lodge #2830's holiday program, "Christmas for Kids". New, unwrapped toys are welcome and appreciated. They will be distributed to needy children by the Elks Lodge during their holiday party in December.

The Classic Car Show begins at 6 pm with the display of classic cars. Show cars may enter the park beginning at 4 pm. First 100 show cars will receive a dash plaque. Cash prizes, raffles and awards will be presented following the movie. Music will entertain the crowds.

At 7:00 pm, the free double feature family movie begins with Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears A Who, followed by Space Chimps. Free rides and face painting will be available for the young ones all evening. Park entry fee is $1.50 per person, with children 5 and under free OR a new, unwrapped toy. Vendor spots are available. For more information, please call 954-883-5010.

BACK TO SCHOOL HEALTH FAIR

The City of Miramar Community Services Department, in conjunction with Memorial Healthcare, will host a “Back to School Health Fair” for children. Free physical exams, immunizations, vision, hearing, blood pressure screenings, and much more will be provided by medical professionals on Saturday, August 9, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at the Miramar Civic Center, 6920 SW 35 Street, Miramar. The City of Miramar’s Community Services Department is now accepting applications for an Open Call talent search. If you have ever dreamed of being center stage, this is your chance to try out. All ages of singers, dancers, poets, and comedians are welcome. Performances should be family oriented and not exceed 3 minutes in length. Selected entertainers will be eligible to perform in various city events including our upcoming Holiday Illuminations Show.
